Melanie Chavez is a first generation college graduate from Los Angeles, CA. In 2017 she moved to Seattle, WA despite the lack of support from her parents, she had a dream and chose to follow it. She moved to Seattle jobless, scared, but mostly determined to make a difference. Now a Partner Relations Manager for a youth nonprofit in Seattle, she enjoys building relationships with corporate partners while coaching and mentoring opportunity youth and other first generation college students. A master networker, Melanie enjoys the art of relationship building and connecting people through events or LinkedIn. She is a millennial homeowner and was able to buy a house because of the wonderful support she received, meeting a Latina realtor through ALPFA. She believes anything you set your mind to can happen with motivation, dedication, and the right team. A light skinned Latina who has identity issues because of never feeling Latina enough she has decided being different is awesome and uses her light skinned privilege in white spaces to be a chameleon and really push boundaries in the lands of DE&I in the tech space of Seattle. The Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) movement has taken the personal finance world by storm. In this panel discussion, learn from single women at various stages of FIRE, understand the concept of FiFlex and how you can retire early and live life on your own terms.

Tonya Stumphauzer is a freelance video and podcast producer and editor, who also happens to write about the touchy-feely side of personal finance on her blog, Budget and the Beach. She has been featured on MSN, Time, Yahoo Finance, Hello Giggles and Lifehacker.

Michelle Jackson is mission driven to have candid conversations about money from the financially single woman's perspective. A proud GenXer, Coloradan, and book geek, Michelle began writing about and exploring her financial identity in the aftermath of her mother's job loss which found Michelle supporting two people on Starbucks side-hustle money and Student Loans. She brings an empathetic voice to the personal finance space and urges women to learn how to become empowered by learning how to earn money and grow professional skills outside of their 9-5. She runs the blog and podcast Michelle is Money Hungry. And is the founder of The Money on the Mountain retreat.

Sylvia Hall is a lawyer who has reached financial independence and plans to retire in a few years. She’s also a real estate investor. Currently she lives in a tiny apartment in Seattle.

Bianca DiValerio is a flight attendant who reached financial independence at 40 despite being an hourly employee without a college degree. In 2015, she stumbled upon the world of FIRE and used her newfound knowledge to redirect her financial life after a divorce and 3 short sales. Since then, she has attended many community-based events in order to support and cheer on other women in similar situations. Bianca writes at MissMazuma.com and has been featured in Money Magazine, on WGN news, and Mental Floss and has also had the privilege of being the subject of fellow Lola Retreat presenter Tonya Stumphauzer's amazing video editing skills seen HERE.

Proactively Managing Your Earning Potential with Lydia Frank

Lydia Frank, for more than a decade as the VP of Content Strategy, has led a team of content creators and researchers at PayScale, a compensation data and software company, who work to understand all of the various factors that impact compensation and provide guidance to both employees and employers on how to have more effective pay conversations that lead to more equitable outcomes. On the topics of salary negotiation, pay equity and compensation best practices, she is a frequent speaker, is regularly cited in the media and has contributed content to various publications (e.g. Harvard Business Review, Money, Fortune, TechCrunch.) She serves on the advisory board for Female Founders Alliance and is a strong advocate for creating more accessible paths to power for women, people of color and other underrepresented groups in the labor market and economy.

Paulette Perhach's writing has been published in the New York Times, ELLE, Vice, Marie Claire, Yoga Journal, NPR, and Cosmo. She wrote A Story of a Fuck Off Fund in 2016, which went so viral it was mentioned in The Sunday Times last week. She's also the author of Welcome to the Writer's Life, one of Poets & Writers' Best Books for Writers. She has an auditory reality show podcast called Can We Talk About Money, and blogs about personal finance for creatives atwelcometothewriterslife.com. She works as a full-time writer and coach who teaches writers how to make the launch to a freelancing career.

Ms. Coolbaugh is a member of the Seattle Estate Planning Council and she has been selected as a Super Lawyer every year since 2012 (an honor awarded to no more than five percent of lawyers in the state of Washington). In her free time, Ms. Coolbaugh enjoys attending Husky football games, chasing after her two young children, and serving on the board of EarthCorps, a nonprofit providing local environmental restoration services.
